The primary Utah filming locations include:

1. Moab & Dead Horse Point State Park

• The Final Cliff Jump: The movie’s legendary final scene—where they drive their 1966 Ford Thunderbird over the edge of the "Grand Canyon"—was actually filmed at Fossil Point (now often called Thelma and Louise Point). This spectacular overlook sits just below Dead Horse Point State Park, looking out over the Colorado River canyon.

2. Arches National Park

• The Police Car Scene: The memorable scene where Thelma and Louise hold a state trooper at gunpoint and lock him in the trunk of his own squad car was filmed at the Courthouse Towers area along the main Arches Scenic Drive.

3. La Sal Mountains

• The Opening Credits: The stunning, lonely desert mountain roads seen during the opening credit sequence were shot along State Route 46 and around Lackey Basin Road near the tiny town of La Sal.

4. Cisco Ghost Town

• The High-Speed Police Chase: The dramatic police pursuit where the women are hunted by a fleet of squad cars took place through Cisco, a desert ghost town located just north of Moab off Interstate 70.

5. Thompson Springs & Valley City

• The 18-Wheeler Explosion: The iconic scene where Thelma and Louise shoot and blow up an offensive truck driver's semi-truck rig was filmed along the roads near Thompson Springs and the Old Valley City Reservoir area
